I am on my 6th year of owning my shop, time flies! I can think back to the early years and remember this quiet kid coming in with his brother and buying tubes and giving him pieces of extra chain. He would never say more than just enough to get what he needed then turn around and head for the door. I sold him my old Van Homan signature frame for $75… you have never seen a kid so happy. That frame was all him for a long while….I can remember kids telling me, “Steven Mack 360 the spine….Steven Mack has whips!….Steven Mack! Steven Mack!! Steven Mack!!! He was 13 years old… he learned all this with no foam pits…nothing but videos and magazines were used as inspiration to get it done!
I could barely help him out because he way so quiet, I honestly thought that he hated me for some reason when I first told him if he needed anything to let me know. He never asked for anything at first, I had to explain to him that I wanted to help him and that i wasn’t a mind reader i don’t know what he needs, he’s got to speak up! Steven is 16 now, still really young and has hardly put a dent in what he is capable of on a bike. Steven is everything that’s good about bmx. I’m really happy to be able to have helped him and to continue too. BMX is fortunate to have him.

“That is beautiful lady!! and you are just jealous you won’t be back here with that tomorrow and I will!!! HAHA” -Tammy yelled that while we walked down a stair well out of the dorm rooms at SDSU a few years back. If I could sum Tammy up in one word it’d be FUN! Tammy always wants things to be fun, he couldn’t be a better friend to me, or to Kings. Tammy is what makes Kings a great shop, from the edits and filming he does with the other team riders to excitement he has for the shop to grow better, it’s non stop good times. Tammy can ride a bike like nobody else..tech moves, big moves, smooth moves..absolutely unreal. If you have the chance to ride with Tammy take as much time as you can to watch his riding perfection happen, because it’s best with your own two eyes in real life. Tammy is the real deal he has been out with some knee surgeries but he’ll be back with excellence soon. I can’t wait!

I really don’t like to compare people to other people but Lahsaan Kobza is the kind of person that makes any comparison impossible. LK is the kind of guy you can’t describe, you have to meet him. Super chill, way cool and a fucking animal on a bike. He is the guy that will always be cool with you as long as you extend the favor and respect to him. He brings to the table an originality that just can’t be matched. Lahsaan will do whatever he wants with bmx, he has the background and style for it. My friend Mark Samuels sums him up saying, “Lahsaan is Legit.” and there is no better way to put it.
